Parker Posey said during an appearance on the Today show on Monday, Oct. 26 that she was no longer attached to the horror-thriller Sleepover, despite recent reports about the 2027 project
Craig Melvin’s misinformed cue cards prompted another viral-ready exchange between the pair after their 2025 “Piper, no!” interview
Posey later appeared on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, where the earlier on-air mix-up was not discussed
After going viral for her “Piper, no!” interview on the Today show in 2025, White Lotus star Parker Posey and interviewer Craig Melvin were at it again on Monday, Oct. 26.
It began when Melvin started to ask Posey about an upcoming horror film project.
“Before I let you get out of here, we’ve got to talk horror,” Melvin said, as Posey looked confused. She leaned in for clarification, before Melvin repeated, “No, horr-or!”
Posey began to laugh, declaring, “I thought you called me a whore!”

Melvin quickly clarified, loudly repeating, “I did not call you a whore! H-O-R-R-O-R.”
“This is the Today show!” Posey teased in response, before getting back on track as Melvin apologized, saying, “I did not enunciate well.”
But things only got more awkward as Melvin continued, asking, “Scream 3, Blade and now you’re doing a new horror film. Tell us about your new horror film.”
“I’m not doing it,” Posey replied simply, prompting Melvin’s confusion.
“It says right here that you’re doing Sleepover!” Melvin said, referencing his cue cards.
Variety reported earlier this month that Posey had signed on to the horror-thriller Sleepover, which was set to be released in 2027.

“No. I’m not doing it anymore,” Posey replied. “It is true. Now I’m sweating. Can I use this as a fan?”

Posey began fanning herself with Melvin’s cue card as he asked whether she was, in fact, previously tied to the project.
“I was!” she confirmed. “It’s not happening anymore. Something came up.”

“Okay, well, now it’s even more awkward than usual,” Melvin joked, as Posey tried to divert attention from the awkwardness by bringing up Melvin’s recent win for PEOPLE’s Sexiest Morning TV Host in the reader’s choice poll, calling him “hotter than a cup of coffee” in reference to the category.
“Are you really not doing Sleepover? Did I screw that up?” Melvin asked again, before Posey confirmed she wasn’t doing the movie.
“Okay, well, now it’s really awkward,” Melvin said, jokingly asking co-host Carson Daly to “save us please” in a transition to the next segment.
“I can’t,” Daly replied. “We have another viral clip coming up for sure.”
Posey assured Melvin it was “okay,” and appeared on the fourth hour for Today with Jenna & Sheinelle for another interview without mention of the earlier comments.
